Stopping a blessing

Numbers 13:31-33 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

This short message could also be entitled, “Whose eyes are you looking through?”  Quite often we are the reason we miss a blessing and in this one verse of Scripture I can show you how you and how others can stop you from receiving a blessing and in this case, it basically stopped an entire nation.

  1. They were looking through the wrong eyes, the eyes of their enemy. Read with me again what it says, “We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” Since God made you, you already have a purpose and a design for your life. That comes by just being created by Him. We may seem insignificant or without merit, but looking through God’s eyes, He knows the plans He has for you and He has gone a prepared a way for you. Whatever it is, right now, that is making you feel low or down or weak, stop looking at it through your eyes or the eyes of your enemy.
  2. They allowed their insecurity and their doubt to cause fear and doubt in others. Sometimes it is not even on purpose, but those around us talk us out of God’s best for us because of their OWN fear and doubt. So they “spread among the Israelites a bad report.” And this had enough power to cause almost an entire nation to have fear and doubt the Word of God and His promises to them.

So stop looking through the eyes of the enemy or listening to the fear and doubt that others are spreading around you. Take it to God. If God said it, then that decides it. Take Him at His Word and move out in faith.
